Why Criticize Film?
Criticizing film grows our appreciation for the hard work the professionals put into the movies we watch all the time. Millions of dollars are put into movies that an overwhelming amount of people sat through and didn't glance twice. Some of my best advice to fully experience a film is to question everything you see. When questioning everything, we can closely examine individual scenes and notice things we've never noticed before, for better and for worse. This can help us love or hate a movie, which is something that many people love to talk about. From criticizing film closely, I've realized obvious ideas I've never thought of before, such as how the works in the background of Avitar (2009) such as costumes, settings, and special effects are incredible. This thought process has made me enjoy that film, which is critically panned by reviewers, more than I did before.
